Lovely 2 pack of meital solar lanterns
Got the two pack of bronze solar sunflower lanterns. When they say bronze it is obviously a bronze finish but it is metal and I do very much like the treatment of the finish. It looks nicely aged and has a nice patina which means it looks very nice during the day. At nice, if it has absorbed sunlight during the day, the result is the display in the photo. I don’t actively know (by testing) how little light you can get away with to have a full night display because I live in an area with a reasonable amount of sun. Also, I have no idea how well this holds up to freezing weather. It DID hold up very well to pouring rain so I would say the waterproof claim is true. Patterns of light you see in the photo are viewable as sharp the closer your lantern is to the ground or wall. If you hang these up on a tree or any elevated source, the throw of light is obviously going to be diffused. Not the manufacturers fault just something to be aware of as you plan how to use them and how many to get. I like how well made these seem to be. Lid on the top of the solar lantern is a lot more flush with the rim than some other brands and so top seems a lot less likely to let rain in or blow off in a windstorm. I have the sunflower design but suspect any of them would be very nice for display in a garden small or large.

Great, except the handles
Based on the photo, I expected a warm light from these but it’s pretty bright white / blueish so they look kind of alien instead of homey. They’re also not copper, just brushed with copper paint.The handles are awful, hence 4 stars. They aren’t bent back to secure at the hinge, so they’ll fall out every time the wire flexes or shifts and / or you’ll accidentally fling the electronics to the ground (not that I did that…) If you live any place there are strong winds, you will want to DIY these a little bit to secure the handles. I was pleasantly surprised to find even the bottom of the lamp has cut-outs, so my husband just tacked some broad-headed nails through the holes and now ours are secured as fencepost toppers to reduce the odds they’ll become projectiles next hurricane.They are much lighter than I expected (good for easy hanging), the solar cell / LED block seems well-sealed from water and the right size to re-use in a mason jar, and the cut-outs are much prettier than I expected.Right now we’re getting about 10 hours of light per day and these seem to last at least 6 hours after sunset, but don’t make it 7-8. Not sure if the issue is the temp, battery capacity, or daylight hours, but we don’t usually need them on after midnight. Maybe that’s a feature if you want to reduce light pollution (we do), or maybe you want your porch lit all night and need to pick a different set of lamps.With a pair of pliers to bend the handles securely and a bit of yellow cellophane over the LED, these could have been 5 stars for me.

These are really pretty and surprisingly bright! I love the hangers on the top so their display options are endless. We havent had many sunny days in the PNW lately but they are still lit when I go to bed at 10:30 pm. 🙂

Sturdy and better made than other solar lamps out there
It’s very well made. The top fits snugly on. It has a larger solar panel surface than other solar lanterns I brought. The metal seems thicker as well. The buttons to control the lantern are on the bottom of the solar top. I hit it with the garden hose for about 30 seconds and it does seem water proof. I’ve only had this two days, but it turns on and off automatically as promised. And I can verify that it lasts at least 7 hours because I woke up in the middle of the night and the little guys were shining outside. It might very well last a lot longer, I just haven’t set alarms to check on it before first day light.One thing to be aware of is that the “on/off” switch isn’t 100% accurately labeled. The middle position of the bottom is off. One side will turn it on with a warm yellow light. The other side will turn it on with more of a ‘white’ light. I don’t like this white light as much; it almost comes off as a green-ish light. (See photo for that.)

I picked these solar lanterns out for my front yard to add a little more light at night surrounding my front porch area. They are pretty bright if they receive a lot of sunlight but if it’s a cloudy day, your lantern may not shine as bright as a sunny day. You receive 2 lanterns so you could keep one and gift the other as well.They are manufactured for outdoor use so they haven’t shown any rust so far, but I’ve only had them out for less than 1 month.
