Pretty finish on a large blanket ladder
Keeping in mind that this is a blanket ladder, not an actual ladder, I do want to share my thoughts on this product. So first the positives: it is made of actual wood, not veneer on MDF. The wood is in an actually nice finish. All of the holes and the screw holes matched up. While tedious, it was a very easy assembly. On side rails, there is beautiful antique brass hardware. Also it is cut really well because when you do finally stand it up everything matches; it’s not wonky, brnt or wobbling on the wall. It is a perfect fit to your wall. Meaning it touches flush where it’s supposed to. This will do a wonderful job of holding blankets. It’s actually surprisingly wide.For the negatives, in order to get it to fold up and ship in a small container, the hinges had to be alternated on the sides. The instructions do not guide you on which way to lay the side rails so that the side with two hinges is on the inside. I assembled it with the single hinge in the middle facing inside the ladder. But because the hinges are a nice finish, it’s not really a biggie. There were a couple spots where the finish of the wood got knocked off in manufacturing, but smallish areas. Once you do get it together if you pick it up and shake it, it does rattle, but that’s because all that’s holding the side rails together or hinges. Now I understand that that’s not the function of this ladder, but I did wanna call it out. And finally the stickers that cover the screws Are a red tone while the wood finish is more of an ashy cool tone. They don’t match; I’m not going to use them. This will definitely function well as a blanket holder, however. The instructions could be a little more detailed there are four black hooks that come with the ladder and no explanation. My assumption is that you could hang the ladder over a door on the side rails. It looks like there is an option to attach the top rail vertically instead of horizontally. Just thinking this through in my head I’m pretty sure that that would not fit on the back of anybody’s door so that the door could close. The door trim would hit the side rails of the ladder. This is a little puzzling.
