There are quite a few reviewers here who experience problems with this switch. And frankly I lost a couple of hours installing this too, was experiencing similar problems like those people, but then I figured, hmm, maybe I should read the manual 🙂 And then I had it hooked up quickly and it works perfectly. I even have it working in a 4way situation too. Once you understand how it works it’s easy.I felt that the manual was actually quite good, but maybe this will help others:When you have a 3way situation, so 2 switches manipulating the same lights, you need to realize that one of those switches is connected to your breaker box, then that swich is connected to the next switch and then that 2nd switch connects to the light. So the power flows from your breaker through switch 1, then switch 2 and then arrives at your lights. You’ll first need to determine which switch is which, so which of the 2 connects to the light and which of the 2 connects to the breakerbox. The manual explains quite well how to do that. If you check your standard 3way (dumb) switch you’ll see a black screw. This is where the power comes in. So this means that the switch connected to your breaker box connects the power there. Then, the switch sends the power over 1 of the 2 ‘traveller’ lines to the other switch. And then via those traveller lines it ends up at the black screw in that 2nd switch and then goes to the light bulb.Now this smart switch works differently! It actually functions much more like a normal switch in a certain matter: it needs a constant line pulse (so not switched/conditionally!) and when you press the switch it changes the output from on to off or from off to on. So you need to rewire the system, you’ll rewire one of the 2 travellers so that that traveller ALWAYS becomes hot, so one traveller will be connected ‘directly’ to your breakerbox. So the other traveller remains. So the smart switch is connected to the light and the old dumb switch is connected to the breaker box. So since the smart switch always will receive a hot line, it will just switch the output (change the bulb on/off) when you press its button. But it will also change the output on/off when it receives a change on/off on the remaining traveller line. So the old (dumb) swith is just used to flip that traveller line. So the smart switch changes on/off by either:1) pressing it directly2) pressing the old dumb switch, since this will flip the traveller line status, the smart switch will detect it and change the output.So once all this gets clear, installation becomes very easy and you can even connect a 4way situation (3 switches). I did this by keeping the breaker box connected switch the dumb one and replace the other 2 with smart switches. So you’ll configure the first 2 like above, so both switches will flip the output line. And then use that output line from that first smart switch as traveller to the 2nd smart switch.

Best most cost effective switch
These are fantastic. I’m a licensed electrician & started using these in my house about a year ago for some exterior lights just so they would come on & off on a schedule not even for the wifi switching home automation part. Any wifi switch is going to be better than a dumb programmable switch because after they’re programmed you never have to touch them again except to change programming. With a “dumb” programmable switch you sometimes have to change batteries or if the power goes out you lose your programming.The app has a sun feature that turns the switch on xx minutes before or after sunrise/sunset and it’s fantastic. I have mine on 30 minutes after sunset and it’s nice because throughout the year sunset time changes and the switch adjust to the change in the background.FInally, someone in the reviews mentioned the way the 3way wiring has to be changed his a code violation/unsafe/whatever else. This is not true. While I will say it is annoying that you have to rewire your 3 way switches to get this to work, it is what it is. Every manufacture (including the 2 big ones that start with L) have the same setup.All in all this is a great switch. Even better now that I’ve started using Home Assistant & now have over 20 of these throughout the house & stock them on my work truck lol . Get it, you won’t be disappointed.

Great Quality and Game Changer Feature
So I’ll be the first to say I’m somewhat ignorant to the whole smart house thing but not anymore, this provides amazing convenience especially w/have dogs that go in and out at night without having to get up to turn the outside light on rather simply commanding Alexa to turn them on or off. Since getting these I’ve become out of control installing them everywhere, now can walk throughout my house asking out loud to turn on hall light, then kitchen light or I may have forgotten to shut off the over the kitchen sink light while sitting in the living room. Until you experience these features you don’t know what you’re missing. As for the product line itself, it is very good quality, has nice finishes that are modern and sleek, as well as easy install. I loved this product so much I’ve outfitted my other house with them. These are also very cost effective compared to other brands yet are not cheap, very sturdy great quality and fast delivery.

A great product when it works correctly, but I had to buy extra plugs because some of the plugs we bought didn’t work. Straight out of the box and they did not work. Also, some of the switches just turn off arbitrary on their own. Overall, it’s a nice product

These switches kind of just do whatever they want. Sometimes they turn on randomly. Some days I can’t get them to turn off. Other days they decide to just flicker. Does not make a difference if I’m using the app or the physical switch. I am the only one who has the smart controls set up on my phone so I know no one else is messing with them. I used a different brand on the rest of my house and they work flawless. But I needed black switches for this Remodel and so I went with this brand and I regret it!!!
