    Missing the top bit.
This is a 6-ft coat rack and what I could only describe as apple red. I had assumed it would be stained to look like cherry wood but instead it is a very bright red nearly crimson color. The assembly was fairly simple and the directions leave quite a bit to be desired. The parts are not labeled and it will take you a few minutes to figure out which order the post need to be assembled in. The post simply screw together with one in containing the bolt and the other end containing a threaded nut hidden inside. This process was fairly simple but clear labeling would have made it less of a hassle. The topmost piece is missing a knob or covering as seen in my photo. I’m not sure what should have been here but there was no piece left over in the box that I missed during assembly. I simply put a large piece of self-adhesive felt cut into a circle over it to hide the raw wood. The rack itself is fairly sturdy and holds clothing well. It was slightly larger than I imagined and that isn’t a bad thing. It’s a coat and hat rack and it functions as it should.I’m removing one star from the review for the strange missing piece on the top and the unclear assembly instructions. This price is fairly High and may not be much of a bargain with the weird missing piece.

    Brings class to you entryway
This was so simple to put together. You dont need a drill just a screwdriver. The wood is beautiful. It does not look or feel cheap. Its heavy enough to withstand the weight of several coats and my purse (which is heavy).

    Quality control needs improvement.
The coat rack needs to be assembled, of course, and it’s certainly easy enough for one person to accomplish in 10 to 15 minutes using only a cross-tip “Phillip’s head” screwdriver and the enclosed open-end wrench. The assembly directions and parts list are a poor-quality, small-print, one-page illustration that is almost worthless.Once assembled, the coat rack measures 6’ 1” from the base to the top and weighs 13.4 pounds. The diameter of the base is 15.75 inches or 400 mm.The base and poles are wood construction. The bottom pole section is attached to the base with a nut and washer. The pole consists of 5 sections that are screwed together, similar to how a leg is attached to a sofa. The diameter of the pole varies because of the design and measures a little over 3 inches near the bottom and 2 3/8 inches near the top. It feels sturdy enough, and I think it is an appropriate size. The hooks appear to be made from molded plastic, which I believe is also a wise choice because wood hooks would be prone to breaking easily. Iron or metal hooks would be more upscale but would add cost, weight, and possible floor damage if the coat rack topples over.On a hard surface floor, the coat rack offers good stability. However, on a carpeted surface, I must be cautious not to hang everything on one side, as I would with any coat rack of this design. The large hooks at the top work great for bulky coats. The smaller hooks at the mid and lower sections work well for backpacks, smaller coats, and anything that has a hanging loop. All the hooks are good for hats.To conclude the positive aspects, this coat rack is practical, sturdy but not too heavy, and has an attractive design.I have a few reasons I’m only giving it 3 stars. If 3.5 stars were an option, I might give it 3.5, but anytime sloppy workmanship, poor quality control, or misrepresentation are involved, rounded down the rating feels more honest. The hooks I mentioned already look to be a molded plastic or resin, and I think that is a good material choice. What isn’t 5-star quality is that all the hooks have a pronounced seam down the midsection of the hook. The seam ruins the illusion of a wooden element. Additionally, the spray finish on the plastic pieces is irregular. Some areas are excellent, there are some spots that are orange-peeled, under-sprayed, and chipped. Spraying a detailed plastic piece to match a stained wooden piece is difficult, and the painting of these hooks falls short of 5-star quality. The very top of the rack pole I received is unfinished and missing something. Maybe there is supposed to be a plug that covers the hole in the top. This defect, to me, might be a quality control issue. The rack should never have been packed for shipment with such an obvious defect. The basic construction is good in some places and falls short in others, as does the entire piece. I think as is, this coat rack is practical and sturdy enough. The reddish-brown high-gloss finish is not my style, so I may sand the plastic seams smooth and apply a coat of not-so-shiny spray paint that better complements my room’s color. Once repainted, the seams touched up, and the hole in the top corrected, it will be a better-looking piece for me.

Nice coat rack, but there are rough spots.
This is a very nice coat hanger. It’s very pretty looking, heavy enough to not tip over, and lots of hooks for umbrellas, coats, jackets, scarves, hats, caps, etc…However I do have a few nit picks. For the price there should have been matching color caps to cover up the screw holes as can be seen in the photos. The hook tips are too large to be able to hang coats and jackets using their collar loops. These loops just can’t fit over these large tips. Also the top of the rack should be capped off and not left unfinished like shown in the photos.I took off one star for these lack of attention to details. They are probably OK for half the price, but not acceptable for a coat rack at this price.

    The top isn’t finished
This would be perfect if the top middle piece wasn’t completely unfinished. This was rather disappointing. It holds my heavy purse with a laptop in it easily, along with many coats.

  8. Customer Review

Nice coat rack, but some corners cut
This is a very nice solid wood coat rack. It actually can hold a lot of coats, and it feels very sturdy and stable. The wood is very attractive, and the stain is a beautiful deep color. That notwithstanding, they did definitely cheap out in a number of areas, which definitely detracts from the elegance that this otherwise could have. There are a number of unfinished or poorly finished areas, especially where screws attach. While not glaringly obvious, they are definitely noticeable when you’re at the distance you need to be to hang up a coat, for instance. It really would be such a small effort, I think, to improve this “fit and finish“.
