Smart, Modern Thermostat with Tons of Useful Features
I recently installed the Honeywell X8S Smart Thermostat and I’ve been genuinely impressed with how much this thing can do. It’s a sleek, well-built thermostat with a 5-inch touchscreen that’s easy to read and use, and it feels way more modern than older Honeywell models.One of the standout features is its smart home integration — it’s Matter certified, so it works with Alexa, Google Home, and Apple Home ecosystems without a hitch.I also love that you can control it remotely through the First Alert app (which Honeywell now uses) so adjusting the temp from anywhere is simple.A big reason I picked this model was video doorbell display support, which lets you see and speak to visitors right on the thermostat screen if you have a compatible Ring or First Alert doorbell — something you don’t see on most other smart thermostats.Beyond that, the X8S tracks indoor air quality — humidity, VOCs, and estimated CO₂ — and it can help your HVAC system run more efficiently with auto-away and adaptive recovery features.It’s also ENERGY STAR certified and may qualify for rebates, which is a nice bonus.Installation was straightforward as long as you have a C-wire, and it’s compatible with a wide range of heating/cooling systems.It also feels solid and well built, with a sturdy design that seems like it will hold up well to daily use for years, not something flimsy or cheap.If I have one minor gripe, it’s that some of the extra sensors and compatible accessories aren’t always easy to find yet — but overall, for the price it feels like a solid all-around smart thermostat.Bottom line: If you want a thermostat that’s more than just temperature control — one that feels like part of your smart home and adds real convenience — the X8S is a great choice.

This thing is way cooler than I could have possibly anticipated.
finally upgraded to the X8S in black, and it’s a total game changer for my smart home setup. The 5-inch touchscreen is huge and looks super sleek on the wall, plus I love that I can customize the idle screen with the weather or a clock that actually matches my decor. Setting it up with my Ring doorbell was surprisingly easy, and now I can see who’s at the door and even talk to them right from the thermostat without having to hunt down my phone.The air quality monitoring is a neat touch too; it tracks things like CO2 and humidity, which makes the house feel way more comfortable. I also added a couple of room sensors, and they do a great job of making sure the bedrooms stay the right temperature at night instead of just cooling the hallway. It’s Matter-certified so it plays nice with everything else I own, and honestly, just having one hub that handles the AC, the doorbell, and the air quality makes life a lot simpler.

Probably the nicest thermostat I have seen.
Easy to install, within reason (I do wish the backplate was a little easier for my fingers to wire, but it’s no big deal) and while this model has a fantastic large touchscreen I find it easier to use the app (I prefer installing Honeywell and you get used to the app.). Compatible with just about everythingt I deal with and easy to connect (As long as you have enough cores in the wiring.)This is probably about the highest quality thermostat I have seen from a company that makes VERY high quality thermostats, so much so I am now recommending them to everyone, even setting schedules is a breeze. This one went onto a 2 stage heat, single stage cooling system and the longest part of the install was replacing the 4 core cable the furnace installers had used to the old thermostat so I could enable both the 2 stage heating (Unused for 5 years) and fan circulation capability.

Sleek, Modern Thermostat with handy doorbell viewing feature
I just got my new Honeywell Home X8S Smart Thermostat and installed it the same day to replace my previous Honeywell T9 Smart Thermostat. Installation was very simple , it took me about 5 minutes after removing the old unit. Since I already had the blue common C-wire, the wiring was straightforward with no issues. Once everything was wired and powered on, the setup process was easy to follow. The touchscreen looks modern and is responsive and easy to use. To control the thermostat, I have to download the new First Alert app by Resideo and connect it through Matter, but once that’s done, it works smoothly with my Alexa and Google Home. It’s made daily temperature adjustments much more convenient. One feature I didn’t expect to like as much as I do is the ability to view and talk to visitors directly from the thermostat screen when paired with my Ring doorbell and It actually turns out to be very practical and not just a gimmick. The room sensor also makes a noticeable difference. It helps balance out hot and cold spots by basing temperature control on actual room conditions instead of just where the thermostat is installed. I also like being able to see indoor humidity and air quality information on the display, it gives a better overall picture of what’s going on inside the house.As for minor drawbacks, the room sensors are a key part of what makes this system really shine, but availability and setup could be improved. Pairing them takes a bit of patience. Also, while the touchscreen looks great, I do wish it were slightly larger , that would make it even better, especially when viewing information at a glance.
