Excellent smart power strip, simple setup
Considerations for my review: Used with Apple HomeKitA bit of info first. So, Matter, is the universal protocol used for smart devices that Apple, Google, Alexa, etc all agreed on to use for smart homes moving forward. What this smart strip is not: Thread mesh enabled. Which is fine for my use case. I’ve found Thread to be more reliable and faster to respond, but regardless for Apple HomeKit – both Wifi Matter and Thread mesh enabled smart devices require a hub. That hub could be an AppleTV or a Home Pod. In my case, for where this smart power strip is located, our room’s AppleTV is the hub, and it’s about 10ft away. So you will need a 2.4ghz wifi network and some sort of home hub to use this smart power strip.Setup? Easy. Go into your Home app on an Apple device (iPhone/iPad) and click the + in the upper right corner and choose Add Accessory. From there you are met with your device’s camera trying to scan the QR code for the device, in this case, our smart power strip – and the code is located on the bottom. Super simple. You’re then met with a screen that shows you all outlets and you can give the strip a main name. There are 4 AC outlets and your 1 USB bank (there are 2 USB-A (the older rectangular connector that has a right way to insert (and we never guess right the first time)) and 2 USB-C (the newer smaller oval shape that can be inserted any way) power outlets but for smart connectivity, it treats the entire bank of 4 USB outlets as ONE – so keep that in mind when you plug devices in here). Best part? I could toggle them on and off from my Home app – and there is a tiny amber LED that goes on and off, so I was able to easily label each outlet as to what was specifically plugged in. Setup took me all of 5 minutes and required no instructions (though this does come with a tiny little booklet to walk you through this). How well does it work? So far, flawless. I’ve got two reptile lights plugged in, and I’ve setup automation in Home app to turn them on and shut them off at specific times. The rest of the outlets are always on – and until I need to use them – I can use this like a normal power strip. Considering reptile automated lighting is VERY expensive (unless you buy those cheap manual twist timers) this was a VERY ECONOMICAL solution to automate lighting at <$40. Best of all, it now integrates into my smart home and I can control it all from my devices easily - no reaching behind a dresser or crawling on the floor.

Excellent Device, Easy to Pair Once You Figure Out How — WiFi Model, No Hub Required
This really is an excellent device. It has a lot of functionality and a reasonable power handling capability of 10 Amps — 1200 Watts at 120V for all outlets combined. It has four individually switched 120V grounded outlets and four USB power outlets. These can be enabled manually by pressing the power button like a normal power strip. Remotely, via WiFi, you can power everything on and off at once, like a press of the power button, or you can turn on or off each individual outlet and/or the bank of USB outlets. You can’t individually control the USB outlets. You can also set up schedules for each of the WiFi switched outlets and/or USB bank of outlets. This device uses the Smart Life App, which I judge to be excellent in virtually all regards. This App is compatible with all manor of electronic control devices, as well as heaters, AC units, air purifiers, security sensors, on and on. It is also extremely intuitive, has great graphics and is very easy to use. Devices are also very easy to set up using this App.Now, I am pretty familiar with these types of devices. But, many are not. You need a good set of purpose written instructions specific for this device. That is not what you get. You receive the all too common little fan-fold “manual” that is about 2 inches tall by 1-1/2″ wide written in one point type. It even has microfilm sized photos which the writing within is beyond the resolving power of their printer, so it is just a blur with a magnifying glass. The instructions are also generic giving you four different methods of activating the device with the app, all for differnet devices. But, nowhere does it mention which device you may have. Thus, is has no information at all on the physical operation of the device. I started by reading other reviews, looking for clues. After much research I determined that this is the WiFi version, indicated by the WiFi sticker on the top right of the box, and no hub is required, though I think you could use it with one if you have it. I have a hub. But, it’s not here where I am. So, I could use it either way. But, WiFi direct is much better. So, to pair this you have to first install the Smart Life App, if you do not have it, and register. Then, plug the device in. When plugged in the blue ring light around the power button illuminates. There is no “reset button”. That is one of the mysteries that should be mentioned in the manual. You have to hold the already blue lighted power button for a rather long time. If not held long enough it will display a red light and switch all outlets on. Simply monentarily pushing it will do the same. Again, nothing in the manual on operation. But, if held maybe 5 – 10 seconds the device will click, and the blue light will begin flashing. It’s in the pairing mode. Press the plus (+) button in the top right of the app. I had bluetooth enabled. But, I am not sure (no instructions) whether or not that is required. The words Power Strip appeared on the screen with no photo. Touch that. It will ask you to select your WiFi network (2.4 Ghz only) and enter your WiFi password. The App will tell you it is setting up the device, which took seconds. Select the device from your home screen and you are in. The graphics and functionality of the App are very outstandable and intuitive. So, the device itself gets five stars. Great design, good quality and excellent functionality. But, the “user manual” they included is totally unacceptable. Because you are buying a device, not a manual, as well as this practice seem so standardized these days they think it is ok, and I told you here how to configure it, I am only going to drop a star. If the manufacturer reads this I hope they will think about including quality manuals in their packages. It will cost them pennies more and save many unneceessary and expensive returns.

works well Apple integration set up is a little confusing
this works really well. Only complaint is it is a little confusing connecting it to Apple home but other than that, not bad.
